Brief: Create an animated pitch deck and print materials to support Universal Microbes’ presence at a Plug and Play innovation event

Plug and Play is a global innovation platform that connects startups with industry leaders, investors, and corporate partners. The event, co-hosted with GO Topeka, focused on agtech and animal health innovations. I was tasked with designing an animated pitch deck and booth materials that would help Universal Microbes stand out to potential partners, investors, and clients across agriculture, mining, and environmental sectors.

Working on presentations is always enjoyable for me, but PowerPoint has its limitations; unlike InDesign, it doesn’t have smart guides, paragraph styles, or a grid feature to maintain consistent layouts. For this event, I needed to deliver something professional and engaging while staying mindful of those constraints.

Given the tight timeline, I made practical decisions to ensure the presentation was both engaging and efficient:
→ Used Microsoft’s built-in icons instead of browsing stock libraries, which saved a lot of time
→ Kept animations simple and purposeful
→ Grouped elements to stay organized without a layer panel
→ Limited transitions and effects to keep the presentation clean
→ Managed large file size caused by imported images and GIFs by minimizing visual clutter

The slides were designed to highlight the brand’s relevance not only in agriculture and animal health but also in various environmental industries. The client successfully presented the deck on stage without any technical issues, and the clear visuals helped support their pitch.
